I've has a minisonic for 6 months and the SC bin is holding some grit so was thinking of throwing the plastic bin in dishwasher minus the rubber lid. Has anyone had succes doing this?

The last thing you want in a dishwasher or a house drain for that matter is grit and/or rock mud. Won't hurt the drum but the grit and mud can set up in drain traps like concrete.

I wasn't wanting to clean bin full of slurry or grit. I want to clean a trace amount left in bin. Just don't want to damage the bin itself

I fill mine with water, let it sit for an hour or so, and then use one of those sponge on a stick things that's made for cleaning cups. Should be able to scrub out whatever you're worried about. Putting it in the dish washer would make me nervous.

Honestly, I would just get some hot water in it with some dish soap, and after it’s soaked for 5 min I’d scrub it with a stiff bristled brush and rinse.

I'm not saying you "should"...I'm saying you "can" put it in the dishwasher. However, if you do put it in there, I'm gonna be willing to bet a dollar that wherever you put it, your significant other is going to move it to some other location...because apparently that's what they do. (Or at least it's that way in my case...whatever it is, is NOT in the "right" spot! LOL)

Can you? Yes. I always add water to the half way point just before a clean out. Let it run for 10 to 15 minutes and any trapped grit should have loosened up and be able to be cleaned out. Unless you have an industrial strength commercial dishwasher, it isn't going to work any better than a good soak and a scrub with a brush.(I know finding the right brush to get that curved bottom is a difficult task).
