I have been considering selling some slabs at my Feb Gem and Mineral Show. I don't see a lot of dealers selling slabs at this particular show so I was just going to put out maybe 80 to 100 on the first day to see how they sell. Already have some thoughts on how to deal with introducing water to an indoor venue with potentially slick floors. I was wondering if marking the price on the slabs was I good way to go. I am aware that for certain rocks, the markers will bleed down into the rock. Anyone have any other ways to mark the prices?
Like I say I am going to go small for Sat, if the slabs sell I will have more under the table and can bring more on Sunday and open up some table space if warranted. Have been browsing Ebay and Etsy getting a rough idea of the price range for various types of material.
Thanks Henry

Good luck with the show. We usually provide water spray bottles instead of putting water in the slab containers. You might try using a pencil to mark the slabs. Sometimes it's hard to see but it doesn't soak into the rock like marker does.

Henry, we always did what drocknut does. Provide a spray bottle and let them spray the slab. It's kind of fun to see their faces when they see the change between a dry slab and a wet slab. Have a roll of paper towels on hand, so they can wipe their hands off if they get carried away. That way they won't leave a puddle on your table. We have always used Sharpies to mark the price on slabs, but the wax pencils at the hardware store would work now that I think about it. The wax would repel the water, but wipe off pretty easily. I don't think it would bleed into the stone, either. The other option I've seen people use is to put a dot of different colored nail polish on slabs and have a chart with prices related to the color.

Regular ol pencil. Or put them in trays with the price listed on the trays.

We use the paint pen markers in silver and gold color, they don't soak in like a sharpie.
