This one followed me home a few months back, finally got around to rebuilding it. Here it is ready to follow me to the Flagg Gem and Mineral show this coming weekend, Jan 5-7 2024 in Mesa AZ. and possibly follow someone else home.

It was made in Corvallis, a favorite town of realrockhound from what I hear... The process also led to a shop upgrade, hummingbirdstones knows where this came from. Allowed me to lift and flip it so I could repaint it. And no, those are Swedish colors, not the other place.

Beautiful job, Lee. Good luck selling it.
I've never heard of this one. How old is it?

I'm guessing this one is late 60's or early 70's by the features on it. I can tell you it's really heavy, without that hoist I would have probably hurt myself trying to get it in the trailer, the lid is made from the same stuff as the tub I think. I'm from the NW and took many trips down the Willamette valley I5 corridor buying stuff, and pretty sure this is the first time I've seen a Spartan. Good news is all the breakable items are off the shelf, easy to find. I had to use a taller pillow block arrangement for the arbor and enlarge the hole the shaft goes through, but made a seal and retainer to make up for it. Only uses 3 gallons of oil in a 20" saw, many will like that. I also added angle iron on the non arbor side of the saw to reduce flex, not exremely proud of the welding job but more than adequate for what it is there to do.

Looked to be in pretty good shape for it's age. Yeah, 3 gal of oil is pretty sweet.

I remember you saying you went to school there, back when my hobby was restoring old Volvos I used to pick up broken ones from students there pretty regularly and it seemed like a college town for sure.

Yeah, Oregon State University. One of the top chemical engineering programs. But not quite sure how they boast that. Because I was so fed up with the lack of teaching that my junior and senior years I stopped attending lectures and just taught myself out of the books or used YouTube.

Nice job on that saw, Lee. Vince would be proud of your shop upgrade.

Well dang!| Didn't sell Friday or Saturday and Sunday was rained out, at least for us with the amount of material we store and move in cardboard boxes. Show was barely a break even anyway, and fees will be increased $100 next year so time to explore different AZ shows. Many others are bailing as well. Guess I get to dirty it up a little more before I put it up on social media somewhere.

I'm asking $2300.00, $3049.00 less than a new HP 20" before shipping. Pretty sure if we hadn't been rained out it would have sold, at least a couple dozen people opened the lid, and quite a few commented that the price was good. At the NW shows last year every piece of equipment over $200 sold on Sunday, and close to asking price. RTH price would be less, of course, or a sharply discounted delivery fee if less than a day round trip away. Not particularly in a hurry, except to free up space for the next saw in line, there are four to go, a general freshening for the FranTom 18 I use, plus the myriad projects around here. Plan to devise a better lifting arrangement for the hoist tomorrow, along with unloading the van so I have a place to sleep at Quartzsite.

Sorry it didn't sell, Lee. That sucks.
I'll bet being right after Christmas and people's credit cards maxed out didn't help either.

hummingbirdstones that makes sense too, we stayed real busy doing small dollar sales, maybe all people had to spend.
