Hi all. Been playing with some more of Tony's jade and came up with this barrette. I bought some 1" diamond sanding drums a while back and finally got to use them. It made it pretty easy to refine the under side of the stone to fit the shape of the barrette. Hope ya like it Tony. Thanks for looking, Ed

I like that Ed, what a great idea. Bythe way, I haven't cut any of the jade from Tony yet, how is it to work? In my experince with some lavender jade I found it harder than heck. Polished out nice but it was kind of a bear to shape!

That's GREAT Ed! Your wife must be very happy with the incoming flow of jewelry around there.

Thanks everyone. Rich, this jade is really tough stuff too. Good thing I just got an 80g diamond wheel, it makes roughing the jade much easier. Cher, I use 5 minute epoxy after roughing up the backside of the stone and the barrette. And Kim, I get the naked barrettes from the naked barrette store! Sorry, please don't hit me. They sell them at Micheal's Craft Store and come in a couple of different sizes. I've made these before out of Green Adventurine and some of that local Morgan Hill stone-the grey/white poppy jasper. Trouble is, my wife puts them in her hair, then sprays hair spray on them. Nothing that a little lacquer thinner can't take care of.
Thanks, Ed

Thanks everyone. I gave it to Tony this morning before we left to go get more jade, and when we got back to his house this evening, his wife was wearing it and loving it. Stephan, I have a new tool for doing the inside curves and it works great.

Great idea! Okay, now let's see what the barrett would look like with some other stones...say some poppy jasper? LOL!

Couldn't you also use straight barretts? I was thinking that might be easier...
