As long as it doesnt leave skid marks!!! Sounds like something isnt aligned correctly. Tony I agree, I think the big pulley is too wobbly and is like 2 mm of where it should be.

LATEST UPDATE: so I ordered an ex belt 1 week ago, it arrived on Saturday, and it broke today. I don't know what to do. Should I just use the warranty and get a new one? I think something else is wrong with the tumbler as well. Contacted lortone, they are sending me a free replacement belt. I'm gonna test with just enough tension to make the barrel move. Is it regular to here squeaking coming from the belt when on the pulley system? I am just getting really fed up with this machine. Just like what dillonf said, I think it should be a machine that you plug in and it works without any tuning. ESPECIALLY considering the price tag. If this is something faulty within the frame and how it was assembled, I'm highly disappointed. I bought 3 Chicago electric rock tumblers for each $70, and all I had to do was remove metal heat thingy, re adjust the belt, and oil the inner 2 shafts. This might be because I'm just plain out stupid lol. Hopefully when I get this new belt I can get it just right. If not, I'm using the warranty or I just might buy something else. Thank you all some much for helping me out. I'm sorry to anyone if I have not replied yet, because I know how it feels to message someone and never get a response back. I'm very busy trying to fix this darn thing. Please keep sending any more knowledge you know about how to fix this or what the problem could possibly be. Thank you! It's very difficult to provide feedback without seeing what's going on. Can you try and upload a video to YouTube and share it here, rydersrocks?

My opinion would be that if the belt is squeaky and you broke one after a week, something is wrong with the equipment. Does the belt look parallel to the side of the frame? I would try one more belt and if it breaks again, ask for a replacement.

I would mention that to Lortone next time you communicate with them. Im sorry I don't get what you mean. Let them know that the pulleys don't line up (smaller one is closer to the frame). I don't know that this would make a difference on a smaller pulley and belt system like a tumbler but I have had issues with a saw that came with the pulleys not aligned. Let Lortone tell you if it is a concern or not.

Let Lortone tell you if it is a concern or not. You know what, I think that is the problem. I have to put the motor at a angle with semi loose nuts just loose enough to move before becoming tight when turned with your fingers, and The sound goes away. The top rim of the belt seems to rub against the top of the small pulley at a 10 degree flat angle.

That small pulley has a set screw that can be loosened so you can adjust the pulley. The big pulley does too, so you should be able to get the belt to track smoothly.

Another thread with a QT12 belt breaking. Hard to understand how this is possible.

I got a QT-12 for christmas and ever since then, I have already had to replace the belt. I adjusted it it out of the box because I touched the motor and it was pretty jiggly. I tightened it up thinking everything will be just fine. However when I filled the barrel with the appropriate amount of rocks, it started making a skidding noise. It will stop and then when I touch the frame it will start again. Just wondering if that's normal or if I should replace it. Thanks. My most common issue with the QT12s not spinning is overfilling. Weigh your barrel. If it's ~12-15 pounds, one of these steps below should fix it. If it's more than that.....sorry, need to take out some rocks. Also check your pulleys are spinning evenly/true. If they get slightly off kilter, ugh. Bad times. Weak belt tension - Usually adjusting the motor as far back as it can go will work. Just move it as far back as you need to get the belt tight so you have room later if the belt stretches more (or don't, if you like buying belts, that's also a valid option!). Check your shafts; they should spin pretty freely with a little bit of tension on the drive shaft. If it's not spinning easily, add a couple drops of 3-in-1 oil to the ends. Sometimes you'll get skidding because the barrel outside needs to be roughed up or the shafts need some sort of grip added to them. Vet wrap (self sticking tape) should work but have also seen people using sandpaper to rough up the barrels or the covering on the shaft. One of mine came with duct tape around the shafts and that machine hasn't given me an ounce of trouble.

I have a Lortone QT12 that has been running almost constantly for just under three years.
I bought it new in February 2021, plugged it in, and started using it. I didn't need to adjust anything.
I haven't had any problems with it and I am sill using the original belt. I oil the sleeve bearings around once a month, but that is really the only maintenance I have done (besides maybe a little bit of surface cleaning).
Hopefully this helps you get an idea on how the QT12 should perform. Hopefully you can get yours running soon; the QT12 is a great tumbler.

Bob, Im not sure! I'm using the orange belts and they all just keep breaking. Im starting to think the belts are the issue. They might just be making bad belts.

Bob, Im not sure! I'm using the orange belts and they all just keep breaking. Im starting to think the belts are the issue. They might just be making bad belts. I bought a QT66 (same unit as the QT12) in December and it came with an orange, toothed belt. It has been running fine. I think there's an issue with the pulleys or the weight of the barrel. When you install the next belt maybe try running it for a few days without any load on there? Maybe that will give you time to see where the belt is rubbing or wearing before it breaks.

Can you send a picture of the belt you are using? I've never seen orange ones for a QT 12? The ones I've gotten are black or tan. Is it one of these: Try the black one.

I have had a toothed (segmented) belt running on my QT-12 for probably about 6 months without any issues.
