I got 5lbs of Black Skin agates from Richardson Ranch around the middle of last year. They are one of the slowest wearing rocks I’ve come across! All had holes were odd shaped except for this one, it's the smoothest and has some really neat features that the others don’t, like lots of small orbs and swirly tan features. So I pulled it early and put it through polish. It’s a lovely stone…

Very nice! I love the contrast in that. It has a great polish as well!

That’s a beauty velodromed. It has a lot of depth and those yellow swirls and mini-eyes are really neat. The shaping and polish look great. What does the other side look like? Thanks for showing.

Sure thing man! My first attempt came out blurry and I forgot to take another. It’s just as cool as the front. The other agates in the bunch didn’t have near as much going on with the surface. This one is just special so I don’t mind the imperfections. I do that a lot… stop a rock mid tumble when something cool appears.

So nice! Looks almost like a swirling galaxy! Super cool looking rock Velo!! Thanks! Overall, I am starting to like these black skin agates more and more. Initially, I didn’t like them because they’re so damn rough and looked rather plain. Then this one happened, and now a couple others have amazing blue banding coming out. I’m hoping more features will appear as they continue to tumble. In the end, I think most of these agates will take 12 or more months in course alone, aside from this one of course. I’m also gonna try cutting some when I finally get the saw out.
