Hi everyone long time no talk to. This Canadian and wife, are planning a June trip to North/South Dakota, Montana,Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, we are still discussing about Oregon, we will be pulling a camper and two small dogs, to rockhound, kayak and camp.
I'm assuming it's still best to check with the BLM's and local clubs where we will be staying for information to collect from.
Would appreciate any information on the camping end as we haven't brought our trailer to USA yet and not sure if it is hard to find a site as it is in Canada. We have never boon-docked before and not sure about our comfort level about boon-docking.
We have been members of Prairie Rock and Gem Society in Regina, Saskatchewan for a number of years and wish our province had rocks which other people would want for traders or to give for appreciation but being in the prairies we got schist for rocks lol hence the reason for the trip.
Also would like to know which rock shops are a must to go to, to supplement our hounding.
Anyways, thanks for reading my post and can't wait for the trip as it's been 10 years since we've been to Montana and South Dakota! Iwannarock

In my experience finding spaces in RV parks is not difficult. Certain holiday weekends can require a little more planning or flexibility. Memorial Day weekend is May 25th - May 27th this year. And Independence Day is on a Thursday, so the weekend before and after will have a little more demand... June 29th through July 7th. I have found the Good Sam website very helpful in finding RV parks. Second place I use is the Passport America website. Third search place is to Google RV park for the town I want. I would think the BLM would be helpful for boondocking sites. Also many of our National and State Parks have camping sites available. Last summer we traveled 8600 miles between June and September and did not experience difficulty finding spaces. Hope you have an excellent trip!!!
