Hello, friends! I am forever grateful for all the helpful responses I got on my welcome to the forum introduction post! I would have responded to each one, but I haven't figured out how to reply yet . I have taken notes on every one. I received the "Dr. Cool Hobby Rock Tumber" as a gift for my birthday or Christmas or something when I was a child and have only just rediscovered it. The tumbler came with a bag of rocks and a pre-preportioned single use bag of each grit. Now that I've tumbled those rocks, I no longer have any grit or rocks. I bought a step 4 polish off Amazon and am currently re-tumbling the 1st batch with the new polish because I still have hope that I can make them shiny. I only live a short drive away from one of the finger lakes, but I doubt I could make a trip up there very often to go hunting for some new rocks. As many of you have suggested, I've looked for rock hobby shops and tumbling groups and clubs and such near me. WHERE IS THE ROCK TUMBLING APPRECIATION IN MY LOCAL COMMUNITY!!?!?! HAVE WE NO PASSION!!?!?! I guess that's partially my fault for choosing to live so far away from nature. If any of you have any suggestions on where good places to find beginner/easy tumbling rocks, I'm all ears. Anyway, once I get a lead on some new rocks and I purchase some new grit (thank you for all of those who shared with me their suggestions - you all are so so supportive here I love you all so much) I'm hoping I can update this thread with pictures (once I figure out how to upload them) and general reports as they come and some of the more experienced rock losers can hold my hand through every step and tell me what I'm doing wrong. <3

Whats with the whole "loser" thing?
There's the Rochester Lapidary society. It's more about cabbing and faceting, but if someone was to show up with a bunch of tumbled rocks, people would be excited. There are also the Newark Gem Club and the Wayne County Gem Club, but I have no experience with them. I've heard the latter frequently go for field trips to do collecting.
I'm not sure how far of a drive you are from any of these, but perhaps there are some closer ones. Whereabouts in the Finger Lakes are you?

I think the word should be lover, not loser I need to find a lapidary club near me too - I think there's one an hour away, but that's a lot of commitment for me ha!
