Unfortunately, those apps are wildly inaccurate and always will be, and because of this, they should be avoided.

If you want something to help narrow down what you might have, you can always use the free Mindat AMS tool.

I have used Rock identifier but as mentioned above it is not that good, maybe 60 percent of the time, but you need to do more research. I use the Mindat site to verify or find the correct ID. The rock Identifier app is now mor for cataloging my collection.
