So these aren't fresh off MY saw, but they are new-to-me slabs from a recent HPL auction. I left the labels that they came with. I'm not sure what I saw in this first, it's kind of plain, but does look pretty in person. little carnelian agates. Also somewhat unassuming, but I love the color and know they'll polish up well. sow belly up close - 2 different slabs here. The first image is the close up of the whole slab. Very cool looking material, but I suspect it might be tricky to cab. Looks like a huge crack/undercut through the middle. This wasn't even close to the nicest specimen they had, but it's what I could justify spending and I wanted to try it. I don't know why my closeups are 10x the size of the other images, but here's a very large closeup of the mexican moss agate slab. I think this will be super pretty. moss agate slab. This would have been amazing for the back-lit challenge...next time maybe... I spent a lot of the night wishing I could afford the $100+ chunks of river jasper - much more vibrant, interesting and if I recall, orby pieces than this, but again, $20 I could justify when I'm not getting any return. Gorgeous colors though, and looking forward to putting this in my slab grabber and making a couple nice slabs. At the end of the day I don't know if I got decent deals, or overspent, but it was fun and I got to admire some super nice pieces....Thanks for looking.

Got some nice slabs there. Prices seem fair enough if you only paid $20 in total.
As far as paying $100 for the river jasper. I would personally argue they are over charging for it. No matter how nice it was. I’m under the impression that you should never pay high prices for materials that have no known locality/deposit. Especially if it’s not rare or no longer obtainable. So I think you did well overall.

When I looked at the first picture...and you had said you didn't know what you saw in it...I thought "Of course she liked it, it has her name on it!" -- Then I realized it was labeled after the fact! LOL I think you got some pretty cool looking material! I see a bunch of beautiful cabs in your future!

Well, I paid a little more than $20 for everything - $70 in total - that was just for the end chunk of the RJ, but I did get free shipping so theres that lol. They may have said where it was from, I don't recall, but do also agree that hundred plus $$ is overkill. When I looked at the first picture...and you had said you didn't know what you saw in it...I thought "Of course she liked it, it has her name on it!" -- Then I realized it was labeled after the fact! LOL I think you got some pretty cool looking material! I see a bunch of beautiful cabs in your future! hahaha!!! Thank you!! I hope I can do the material justice. Had planned on finishing a cab I've been working on last weekend, but my weekend had other plans for me, so hopefully this weekend I can knock something out.

It's always so fun receiving new material. I see a lot of beautiful cabs in there! Hopefully the Sowbelly won't give you too much issue. It looks like it has some great potential. Keep us posted!

You have to add the value of the entertainment of buying to those slabs. I'd say you did pretty well. I like the chrysocolla and carnelian. They'll make great cabs.

It really is!! Especially when I couldn't remember what any of it looked like lol...I think the sowbelly is so unique, but I see potential issues in there - I'll have to try to avoid trouble areas when templating. I really like that Chrysocolla with Cuprite, that's going to make a couple of nice cabs ! Patty Thanks!! I like it too - pretty colors. I thought it was quite fun to see the different items for sale and actively bidding...Thank you! I'm exited to get working... Man! Those are some nice slabs! Thank you!! Looking forward to seeing how they turn out!

I'm a real moss agate fanatic, so I think the Mexican moss is going to be nice. I'm really liking carnelian too if it is nice like yours. What is the thickness of them in millimeters? Are they nice and thick? Thanks for sharing.

I have some material that's closer to cm, which is nice for allowing a high dome, but just means more material to remove
