best fish i ever had came out of a cold Scottish Loch. we were camping and some kids hauled out two garbage bags FULL of Trout and Char. well, mum and dad told the brothers they could keep the trout, but they had to leave the Char. (as in "go see of those people want some fish"). man, i thought my hands were going to fall off, the water was SO cold cleaning them, but wrapped them in aluminium foil and threw them in the campfire coals....
what a feast. makes my mouth water even now.

MMMMM, trout. It's been too long since I've been fishing. Maybe next week. Hope you enjoy those beauties. There's nothing like eating something you've caught.
KD, in the grand scheme of things, $40 bucks is kinda cheap. Take into consideration gas prices, camping gear, supplies etc for a couple days' fishing. A lot of folks out here are taking to the farms (which is better for me...less people in the mountains....) and loving them. Not for me though, I love wading the streams and meadows of the Intermountain West and going where 99% of people don't go.

wtg Xena, getting skunked, that why they call it fishing instead of catching. I go steelhead fishing and hope to get a bite in a few days fishing. My annual fall steelie trip was four days, skunked the first two days and landed a couple on the last two days! Which in my book is a succesful trip. Cal

We've got those muskies up here too, you find them in most of the lakes and rivers. Those buggers can get mighty ornery and have some really nasty teeth. Pike have nasty teeth too! ... pike 1, Don 0 (I let it go).

Don that looks painful! I have a hard and fast rule...if I pull up a fish with more teeth than me, it goes back, no questions. I refuse to catch something that could eat ME We ate the trout for dinner last night, sure was good. I took Tami and a friend with me to my fave spot and now I know why my father never took me fishing. LOL by the time we got them licenced and poled, then got the poles ready, got to the spot etc, it was already 4pm. Then there was the line snags from hell. Thank heavens I have patient fishing buddies that were willing to get the girls all fixed up so I could get MY line in the water. It was definitely an EXPERIENCE! We got skunked but it was fun... Those farm trout just didn't taste as good as these. I'm thinking its that farm fed diet and confined area they keep them in or something.

Ewww Don, that's nasty. Yes, northern pike have the same kind of nasty teeth the muskies do. I don't think they are quite as aggressive as the muskies, unless you're trying to get a hook out of their mouth. I remember one time when I was a kid, diving into the water at our local lake and coming face to face with a northern, scared the !$%$%^ out of me. Don't know who turned around faster, him or me but I can guarantee, I was on shore in a heartbeat!

Cher - A char is what you sit in in the Carolinas.
Xena - "The little one I really think was a fluke" How come? It looks the same as the big one, and it's not flat.
