First is Stonewall Canyon Jasper - this rock seemed quite a bit softer than I expected. Didn't take a great polish, but was also the first cab I've ever done without a dop stick - I may dop it and try again - can't seem to see scratches, but would like to smooth out some flat spots and the girdle. New shape for me too. Here is some Maury Mountain Plume - I did this one a little while back, but don't think I ever shared it. Lighting sucks, but it has a nice shine to it in person. I have several other preforms of this and am tumbling some now - it's got so much depth! I'm open to any suggestions, thoughts you might have on how I can improve these...Thanks for looking!

I think they look great! I'd like to see more photos of the Maury mountain maybe in different lighting. I just love the moss agates from there. Do you know where Stonewall Canyon is located? What state? Thanks for sharing.

I'll try to get better lighting for it - I have a lightbox, but I struggle to get good upclose pics in there. I'll try again tonight. Thanks for looking!!

Nice shapes- but I'd agree better photos would help us (me anyway) better appreciate them. If all else fails, I found I can get a good photo if I take the cabs outside in the early morning or late afternoon light.

I may have to wait for the weekend as it's dark when I leave for work and getting dark when I come home - thanks!! THose look great! Mine does have a level of shine, but not as much as others. I was surprised that not dopping wasn't as difficult as it had been in the past. I feel like I have better control over the stone dopped, but it also gets in the way sometimes. I'll try the good ole sunshine this weekend and see if I can get better pictures. Thanks!

How do the Maury plume agate tumble? I would think the plume areas would undercut?

How do the Maury plume agate tumble? I would think the plume areas would undercut? So far they look amazing, but are still in stage 1. I'm hopeful at least one of them will be ready for stage 2 - I have almost enough for a mini sonic batch.

Your cabs look great Peta. I’ve always loved Maury moss and yours is gorgeous. I have some slabs of Maury moss but they are all green with very little yellows. They do have an occasional spot of red.
Did your errant diamond finally go away? I don’t see any scratches on your cabs.
Awesome cabs. Thanks for sharing your work.

I got the Maury from realrockhound and it's some gorgeous stuff. Even the tumbles are looking great. I'm hopeful that I did get rid of that errant diamond - I've been using some montana on it in between use so hopefully!!

rocknewb101 It sure looks like you got rid of the bugger. I’ve broken in a few diamond wheels. I remember how long and hard you need to work for a smooth wheel. I bet you’re starting to understand how tough diamond hard wheels are. I started on carborundum lapidary wheels. My first experience with diamond wheels was life-changing. You’ll get years of fast cutting out of them. Plenty of time to think about what sequence you want for replacements. My favorite combination of hard wheels has been 100 grit to 600 grit. If cutting a lot of big cabs, or flatter domes 80 grit is better for stock removal. The 600 hard wheels cut faster than you imagine and they leave a nice smooth surface and crisp edges at the girdle. I haven’t worn out a 600 grit wheel yet. I bet they last as long as coarse wheels do. 220 grit hard wheels last too long anyway. I haven’t gone from 80 to 600 but I think Patrick orneryboi has that setup going now. Anyway; something to think about. I’m smiling that you finally got rid of the scratches.

Only criticism I would provide (positive criticism, I promise) is on future cabs, start working on tightening up your symmetry. From what I’ve seen from your latest cabs, it appears you have started to get you polish dialed in. So next step would be getting them symmetrical, which in return also helps with the polish.
