I have a brand new Covington 10" slab saw. I got it over 5 years ago...life took over.. Today I turned it on and all seemed well. But after 10 minutes the power feed stopped. Luckily I was just checking it out and hadn't added oil or tried to cut a rock. Is it possible that the power feed could go bad just sitting? I've tried a few things I saw in this forum (removing the box over the power feed motor...adjusting the clutch) but nothing has worked.
Anything else anyone can think of?
Thanks Lisa

I was going to suggest checking the threaded rod for any rust that might be preventing it from rotating through the treaded fitting but you had it running for 10 minutes. Might check anyway. Also you might add new grease to the rod. When I have had issues and called Covington, they have always been responsive and helpful. Ask for the technical person who knows saws. I think one is Brian and not sure of the other person I have talked to.

I had a 14 inch Covington that sat in a box for longer than yours. The clutch is an interesting design feature; cuts really fast until there is resistance and then slows down to clear material. Here's what I don't like; over tightening and loosening the clutch can wear it out and the cross feed drifts causing the blade to jam. You didn't mention how much you had used it before having the problem. The blade needs to be dressed more than other saws.

Welcome to the Forum. Is there any reason why you are posting with two different accounts? Maybe it was a sign up issue, but I would heartily recommend that you pick one and use that. Maybe just use the one you started this thread with and go from there. Since it's been so long since I last had to look, I'll have to look if there is any rule or restriction about one user using two accounts to post. Most forums usually have that restriction. I'm not sure that's laid out here.
