Hi all, as you may be aware of we recently lost a dear member of our community, rockpickerforever . Jean was a personal friend to many members here and she is sorely missed.
We have been wracking our brains trying to figure out the best way to honor Jean on the forum and one common thought that kept coming up was the fact that Jean loved a good 'guess the number' game so we have decided to hold one in her honor.
One of our community family members who wishes to remain anonymous has donated in Jean's name, FIVE MFRB's full of a nice assortment of agates, jaspers, pet wood, pudding stone, tiger eye, sodalite, and Apache tears. All of the stones are in various stages of the tumbling process and need to be completed. Each box will contain around 20 pounds+ of material and postage will be included.
The game starts now and will end immediately if all five boxes are won, or (optionally) if three or more days elapse with no new guesses, or Sunday 3/11.
Each of the five boxes described above will have it's own unique random number between 1 and 10,000.
The generation of the five numbers was purposely spread out as follows:
Box-1 number is between 1 and 2000
Box-2 number is between 2001 and 4000
Box-3 number is between 4001 and 6000
Box-4 number is between 6001 and 8000
Box-5 number is between 8001 and 10,000
Each member has 10 guesses to spend any way you like. Post your guesses here in this thread. One strategy might be to spread your guesses out evenly over the box numbers (ie: 2 guesses in each box range of numbers) or load up all ten guesses trying to score a single box.
If a box# is not guessed, the closest guess to it WITHOUT GOING OVER, will win that box. In the event of a duplicated guess, the number goes to the FIRST person who picked it. It is the responsibility of each player to not duplicate a number that has already been picked.
Post editing is welcome up until the contest closes if a player discovers they have duplicated a number that was guessed earlier. Be careful of editing for the sake of picking different numbers! You will never know if your original numbers hit or not
Please enjoy the contest and as usual, lighthearted banter is encouraged.
If you knew Jean please feel free to say a few words for her as you guess. For instance, if you spot any typos in this post please bring them to my attention... like Jean would ...every time... usually wrong dates
