Great polish! I wonder how often wheels are contaminated?

Great polish! I wonder how often wheels are contaminated? Thanks! I'm not sure, but I know I was tired of the same results with the wheel that came with the cabking...it was time!

My suggestion is that you keep the questionable wheel, label it well, and when you have the opportunity mount it on an arbor and use a relatively sharp edge of a really hard agate like brazilian like a wheel dresser to see if you can scrape the clump off and make it usable.

Thanks! Definitely keeping it - but I'm not sure there's anything sticking up causing an issue - i think I just overused it and it's way worn (although I do see sparkly still). I hardly had to push at all on the new one and the scratches were gone - at least I couldn't see them any longer. I do have trouble on light material like this pinpointing them, but I think I got most of them.

Those look really nice. I especially like the crazy lace.👍I know your CabKing is still quite new. It does seem odd that a brand new wheel would be causing you such suffering. You say you’ve beat it up too much at this point but I wonder if it could fall under warranty still? My (little) experience has been that heavy use of a wheel or disk results in it being less gritty/scratchy not more.

Peta, nice job on the cabs! The MCL is awesome. Did you buy your CabKing from Kinglsey North? If so, I'd call their customer service and tell them about your experience with that wheel and how the new wheel works just fine. Suggest that they replace it for you free of charge. If it's a defective wheel (and it sounds like it is), you shouldn't have to eat the cost of it. You did pay for it when you bought the machine.

Peta, I'm so SO stoked for you!! I know how frustrating that OJ is! I was hoping some would turn out for you though. It does take a wicked wicked polish!

My (little) experience has been that heavy use of a wheel or disk results in it being less gritty/scratchy not more. With these the particular issue was that the 280 soft wasn't getting out the scratches. I took it back a time or two, before just setting them to the side. Then when I got the new 280 soft it whipped right through the scratches and got rid of them. The new wheel was amazing. The old wheel is the one that's worn and the one I just replaced. The machine itself is (other than dirty) like new.

I ordered it direct from cabking's website, I believe. Same with the replacement wheel. I could reach out to them and see what they'd say...since it's their product and all . Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a go.

I really liked the OJ, it just kept opening up holes lol...I do have the other slab to play with that might be a little more intact. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with it though. Thanks so much, Brent!! I still have one other star sapphire, dopped and waiting for me I haven't forgotten it.

Oh my gosh, it really is. I kept thinking I was doing something so wrong. While my technique may still need refined, knowing i was at least on the right path all along is refreshing! Thanks for the tutorial link! I know nothing of wrapping, but it might be fun to sit and follow the tutorial and see what I can do - so many talented wrappers in here..

Those look fantastic. I can only imagine the disappointment you felt with your other work and the scratches. I hope this good feeling and excitement stays with you and we all here benefit from your eye candy you’re going to create. Looking forward to more. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for sharing Thanks so much johnthor1963 - you are spot on - when I looked through my mag glass and no scratches jumped out, I think I did a little "whoop!" lol I have a 4 day weekend so I'll be working down there for sure!
