This cab is from some of the rock I brought back from my Burro Creek trip in January. I cut the slabs a little while ago and was really expecting the material to be soft and undercut. Particularly the white portions. Was pleasantly surprised when I cut a cab yesterday. It worked great and polished up beautifully. I've got some pretty good chunks of this stuff and I'm anxious to work with it more. I'm getting some nice sized slabs out of the rock that this is from. This is the slab used for the cabochon after I cut the cab off the side of it. I think as I cut further into the rock I may get some more of the pinkish orange color too. This is another slab I cut last night out of another rock from the same trip. I kind of expected it to look like the stuff that Mark K posted a while ago. The white and clear brecciated stuff. I was kind of surprised by what it looked like inside. This is what the outside of the last one looked like.

When I was up there I could see that it looked like it had all formed in big bubbles in ash like Amethyst Sage, but it seems like a lot of it broke up and reformed, making the breccia. I think it's a lot older. The solidified ash is a lot more solid than most of what you find with the Amy Sage, but not the deep purples. Did you notice that the purples seem to be found where the green dirt is? I really need to be getting up that way in this weather, but that shop extension won't build itself.

I like that. That’s some good looking stuff. I need to come down and spend a week and dig a big hole. See if we can’t locate some of the gemmy purple stuff.

I really like the purple color and pattern. You can put some of that in the traveling box. I wonder who is after you?

realrockhound that was the purple agate from an undisclosed and possibly no longer accessible spot, came from another member here. The purple he has looks like stuff from the pastellite area, and a lot nicer than anything I've found there to date, stuff I found is purple, but just barely. I'll have some when I come north to pass out, it allegedly fluoresces, at least some of it does.

And if it’s no longer accessible, even more reason for me to face polish it and put it in a display case. Also… when you’re up. Come by and dig through the junk pile. Take what you want.

I agree with the workability of the Burro Creek. I bought some from drocknut on here a while back and just for fun real quick worked a tiny piece that had broken off a larger piece. It had a lot of the white area in it and I thought for sure it’d be too soft and not polish but it turned out beautiful. I just need time to cut more cabs and I can dig into the bigger slabs.👍👍 Fun that you actually got to go dig some yourself.

I'm not going to say it wasn't work, but there was no digging involved in anything I collected on that trip other than geodes at Wiley Well and those were in what was basically a soft sand bank. I got some other purple from the hillside that's covered in pastelite and a lot of the white part rinses off with my high pressure sink sprayer.

I love the looks of that cab! The tones of that purple aren't overly deep...which gives it more of an elegant tone I think. Gorgeous!!

I like the purple - don't see a lot of it - it took a beautiful polish. Love that you self collected it. Patty

Turned out great! Very lacy looking. Reminds me of purple, not blue, Turkish lace.

I love the cab. I think I love anything that comes from Burro Creek. I hope to go there someday. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah. I had a chunk like your upside down California shaped one too. I was not pleased with it. Then again, I have had quite a few duds this year. Most of the geodes I hauled out of Corral Nuevo were duds too.
