He doesn't need to worry about me, however. He'll just have to cut up one of his better rocks that he's been stashing! Does he actually stash those rocks though? I was under the impression they just kind of fall out of his ears perfectly sliced and ready to go  |

realrockhound that T-egg is like nothing I've seen, I usually can at least guess a little based on the rhyolite color but I can't remember ever seeing that. The banding looks like it will parallax in a slab as well. I better start digging deep, a new tool is supposedly arriving tomorrow that I want to try out.

realrockhound that T-egg is like nothing I've seen, I usually can at least guess a little based on the rhyolite color but I can't remember ever seeing that. The banding looks like it will parallax in a slab as well. I better start digging deep, a new tool is supposedly arriving tomorrow that I want to try out. I had two slabs from that egg. I took one to cut cabs. And the other to face polish for display. Dunno if I’ll enter a cab from it. But if I do… it’ll be to my tradition of trying my best to submit material that is either not common, or never before seen. |

Well...last night I spent a good hour (plus!) digging through material. Then spent a good amount of time picking a spot out of two specific slabs. This morning, I went out to the trim saw...pulled it outside just as it started snowing! I got the shapes cut out and will final shape the preforms tonight.
I had to dig DEEP on this one. I have my primary...and a back-up. I'm hoping I don't have to rely on the back-up! LOL

Here is my Blue Lace agate for the banded agate contest. I got these slabs from one of Mel 's auctions. Thanks Mel! The material works up really nicely. I did a 2nd cab where I wanted to attempt to capture the quartzy matrix. I fully expected it to crumble and not survive, but it actually made it all the way to polish! (Mostly. I did have to adjust the tip a bit.) But, it just didn't really add anything to the cab. This is another hard to photo one. It can change from pinkish-purple to bright blue to white depending on where the light is coming from and the color of the background. These shots are as close to accurate as I could get.    |

It's killing me lol. This is my last weekend to finish my cab so I'll have to make time somewhere  Great job so far all! |

Hello friends! I'll get in on this one. I made the 3.5 hr drive to "The Gem Shop" in Cedarburg WI to dig through their basement for rough and I wasn't disappointed (maybe my wallet). One of the rocks I bought was a 4lb chunk of this crazy lace. This cab turned out especially nice and I just so happened to take a pic of the slab before cutting! Here we go!    |
