A few more done this weekend - started a couple weekends ago and finished yesterday - The first is some river jasper - has tiny druzy at top - I often wonder if these pockets make it harder to get scratches out. I think I did fairly well with this one, but may need to spend a little more time early on. Have no idea what this rock is. I got two slabs from a FB auction - the rest of the slab looks way different than this - anyone have a clue? It has a couple flat spots that I'm aware of. Tried taking it back (undopped) to get rid of the flat, but I really struggle cabbing with just my hands, so will likely redop and take back through. Fascinating material though. The other slab of Ocean jasper - this had a nice wiggle line through it so tried to capture - also had a 'bite' out of the bottom side so it's not as flat or even as I'd like, but then I just say it adds character! Final is another piece of dino bone. I have to say, I really enjoy working with this material. Girdle is not the best on this piece, but it looks good from the top down lol. Hope you all got to experience the eclipse in some form or manner yesterday. I was in 100% totality path and I have to say i've never witnessed anything quite like that! It was phenomenal and another reminder of how amazing our earth/solar system really is!

Nice! I really like the dino bone and the unknown rock is really cool material. I do think cabbing pieces with vugs makes it harder to deal with scratches. I was working a really cool one last night and I swear the crystals were breaking loose and causing additional scratches. I might try putting something I can later remove in the vugs in the future.

I felt the same! I tried to avoid the area, but you can't avoid it too much lol...If you find something to fill that you can remove, let me know. On a piece of MCL that I did with a vug I accidently got dop wax in there (duh! the hole goes straight through lol)...I was able to get the majority of it out by soaking in acetone. Look at you go. Major improvements. Think we have a new cab contest contender Awe - thanks! I'm having a lot of fun with it! I have some gorgeous Maury ready for stage 2 tumble (reds, greens and yellow's I believe) and a large preform waiting to be dopped (it's next!!).

I like the mystery best. I think it's King Cobra Jasper.

For me the it's the river jasper, photo #1. I like the greens. That Dino bone is pert near gem. They are all great. Thanks for sharing.
I followed the eclipse totalities on live railroad cams from Dallas Texas to Fairport NY. The one in NY was the best, pretty close to Niagara so it got pretty dark. It is definitely fascinating.

I like the mystery best. I think it's King Cobra Jasper. oh! It does look like the King Cobra - I'll have to share the intact slab because it's so unique - the top is completely different from the bottom. Thank you!! For me the it's the river jasper, photo #1. This was one pricy rock so I didnt' get a great example, but it was good enough for me I was very happy with how the dino bone turned out. Really nice. Thank you!!

Nice group, I'm particular to the dino, beautiful patterns & color ! Looks like a nice polish, which if I understand correctly can be tricky with some of that stuff.

I've heard the same about it and also that sometimes it needs stabilizing - which I have zero knowledge on so I'm grateful it hung together lol...
