Here is my latest work where I laminated a layer of basanite on a Brazilian agate slab. I carved an image through the basanite deep enough for it to show the Brazilian agate. I also made a hemisphere from lab-grown quartz and mounted it into the top layer so the agate would show through. The cab is 3-1/2" high. Also shown is the reverse side of the cab.

Wow - very cool. I think I need to try to do a doublet at some point - do you super glue the two pieces together?

Stunning work as usual! I enjoyed checking out your cabs in person and speaking with you at the Turlock show last month. As good as the pictures look they look better in person.

WOW!!! The Like button just is not enough for how much your work impresses me! Gorgeous work of art, and the back of the cab is at least as beautiful as the front!

Amazing! Can't figure out how you did the perimeter. rocknewb101 not speaking for Bobby, he is the master for sure, but when I cap pieces I use optically clear jewelers epoxy, you need a little hardening time to get bubbles out and to reposition if necessary. I learned intarsia and doublets/triplets from masters at the NW Rockhound retreat, but Bobby has taken it a step or 2 beyond their work.

I just sat staring at your cab with a big grin ... before remembering to read your post. So well done!
