I've done some other post about the Hornitos poppy Jasper I got from one of my customers home. I made her a pendant (1 hour jewelry post) from some of it and took it to her today. I came back with another piece of poppy and a nice chunk of plume. The plume is going to have to go on my 24-in saw it won't fit in the 16. It's just over 4 lb of Poppy Jasper and 9 lb of plume.

Yeah, I like it. I think the plume is going to look a lot nicer once it's slabbed.

I think the plume might be regency rose from the GYP area, or one of the other similar ones. Our first ever guided field trip with the club took us there, and one of the members took us to an area he tenatively intended to claim near the regency, got some nice stuff.

Those are both great. I love plume, but that poppy jasper is pretty exciting. Both of them have great potential!

That's really fine! I've been told that the Hornitos is one of, if not, the most rare of the CA poppies. Sabre52 can probably tell you the hill where they found that.

Lucky guy! Hornitos is scarce, attractive, and cuts great cabs, as you've shown. I'm sure the plume is GYP. It my be Regency Rose as Rockoonz says, but there are so many different kinds there it's hard to be certain. It's very nice.

Dang that's a beautiful cab rockbrain! Excellent framing. The section you chose for that cab is one of my favorite varieties from out there (and rare). Well done on making it look it's best!

Hmm. Thought I previously posted something on this. I know exactly what vein that material came from. Quite a ways from the old Hornitos jasper sites down canyon, further up Hunters Valley road right near our old ranch. Doctor built a home right on top of it about 16 years ago. Small orb poppy that runs into what I called the strawberry jasper vein. Right acroos the road from the Cosmos Jasper site which also has a new home on it. Vein was mostly about 3-4 inches thick showing that pattern but the entire vein was much thicker. Vein was very variable and had lots of different patterns and very solid. I still have about a 75# hunk in my rock garden here in Texas taken from where the vein of that nice stuff you've cabbed is only an inch or so thick. After all the work I spent digging it out, you know I couldn't leave it behind. *L*. Only stuff with that pattern I found in all my poppy hunting in the area. Beautiful job with the cab!

I feel lucky to have got this, especially when someone else got to the stash before me. That's what I said when I saw the rough. Hmm. Thought I previously posted something on this.
