So I'm working on this Red Velvet Agate cab and it has small pits that I'm not going to be able to grind out. In looking at the other slabs it seems inherent to this material- at least the slabs that I have. Do you think the pits detract too much from the overall look of the cab? Thanks for looking.

I don’t notice any distractions on your lovely cab.
However, HOT STUFF makes a clear gap filler. You can get it at SATELLITE CITY online.
It’s pretty. I like it as is.

I think it's fine the way it is. I used to get all stressed about pinholes. I don't anymore.

Hmm 🤔 Hot Stuff… thanks Pat ! Might be good in the arsenal. And, Mike, no, I don’t think it detracts. I have a couple cabs also with pits and my thinking is they can become part of the design when wire wrapped or set. Like I might add some small copper beads if that could sort of “match” with the pits or even do a bit of a rustic looking wrap or setting. Since stones are natural and I personally would much rather a natural stone than synthetic I think most customers buying a stone would probably also be fine with the natural look of a rock with some pits.

It looks fine to me. My bet is someone will buy it for the color that happens to go with what they like to wear, or they just like the color.

Nice cab AND no polish in the pits, so what's not to like Patty

Looks like a winner to me. Pits lol natural beauty love it. Always blows me away when you start out with a smooth shape and you move through the wheels and pits fractures come to the surface and by final polish you get to wonder how you missed it when you started. lol. Thanks for sharing I’m relieved that I’m not the only one that this happens too. Looking forward to seeing your next one

Thanks all. I don't mind the pits too much- they are rocks, after all- and I really like the material. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't biased. 😁

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't biased. 😁 The last show I sold at, the piece that kept getting the most attention was (in my opinion) one of the worst looking cabs I'd made. The material wouldn't take a polish...but everyone "ooh'd and ahh'd" over the colors...and it sold! As others have stated...sometimes pits are just a part of some material...and become "acceptable"...

I wouldn't worry about it. I usually fixate on those when cabbing and hate it because I'm used to looking for scratches and so those stand out like sore thumbs. However I'm finding the others who are enjoying the cabs don't mind them at all and some really like the character they add. I'd leave it
