Some of the halves I got to polish them by hand. From 60 grit to 2500 (highest available to me) These tell such a fascinating tale, from creation to changes in the environment. Polished the next half. It's got a lovely calcite point

Super nice! The crystals in the third are like ice. How long does it take to polish these?

I cut 24 yesterday. Whew, that was not easy. It was a harder cut and I ended up not the best finish on the cuts like saw marks and shelfing.

Your polishing looks great ! Extra credit for doing it by hand. Maybe a flat lap in your future ?? Patty

I need to get one. I have been looking for a good thin continuous blade for the 7 inch saw. The qep one seemed to not have a very long life and I struggled with the last set of geodes. Which is irritating because this set was frigging awesome

Maybe you should ask for a recommendation for the blade, on the Lapidary equipment thread ?

This is the sintered diamond blade I got for my tile saw from e-bay. It ships from Hong Kong - came pretty fast. The price has gone up since I got mine 2 years ago. I've been happy with it on my trim saw.

I, also, got that blade (a smaller one). I've been happy.

wargrafix, whip out a flat bastard file and peen your blade. Only takes a few minutes for a 7" and makes a world of difference. If there is still an "edge" left around the "continuous edge" there is life left in the blade. The edge becomes rounded and wedges into the cut. You need to make it flat again.

So take the flat edge and run it parallel to the blade?

So I got another 24 geodes (12 large and 12 medium) And while I am still polishing. By hand and sandpaper. I have to say, this set had the best set of worthy of polishing. I will try my best and I am excited for when I can share with all of you. Here is a sneak peek of 80 grit polish. Oh and with the uneven cuts, this is why I was asking for a good thin blade to use on the tile saw I could by from amax

The combination of agate bands and sparkly macro crystals is what makes geodes so pretty. Really nice rocks. Thanks for sharing.
