This is Badger Hole Jasper from McDermitt, NV. I cut this test cab and can't decide whether it's worth cutting more. What say you, gang? It takes a great polish and has subtle tints of pink and green along with the "webby" patterns. It's hell for hard!

Not personally what I look for in material. But that’s not to say others wouldn’t like it. I call a lot of stuff leaverite that others go crazy for, so I’m probably over critical when I comes to stuff as compared to others. Good cut and polish on it though. End of the day comes down to what you like.

I totally love it! I love everything about. I think it has a lot of cool stuff going that works together. What are the spots? Are they metallic?

Under the loupe the spots appear to be non-metallic inclusions, probably iron oxide. I find the stuff subtly attractive. As you say, lots going on.

It really has that McDermitt look. I think crayola jasper is from there or near. It has those colors, but I haven't seen any brecciated looking.

I would guess iron with the color of a few of the spots. I think it would make a nice piece of jewelry.

I actually really like it! Kind of reminds me of porcelain jasper, the soft colors and smoothness of the blending of the colors. I tend to love anything with those…. cracks, I can’t think of the word. I like it when fractures have refilled with other agatey material. It looks fun to work and I’d probably be trying to get both that pink and green captured all in one cab. Did you dig that or buy it? Ah, brecciated, thanks rockjunquie .

I bet it would make wonderful spheres.

The healed fractures look cool. The colors make it look like a portion of a paper map.

It was purchased but I don't know where to get more.

To me, this is a great material to use for a setting or wrap in which there's a lot going on with the metal...since the material itself doesn't have a lot going on. Normally people want the rock to be in the spotlight...but sometimes the metalwork needs to be the standout. I think this type of material allows that to happen.
