I figured before I started on my first piece, I'd see if anyone had any tips I might need to know.
Most of my searches on the forum seem to be about tumbling, and I don't have a vibe.
Any thoughts or concerns I should be aware of ?

I have cabbed tiger eye and found it just like any other agate. Takes a great polish easily.

One thing to be mindful of is sometimes the fibers can be a little loose (I've found this more in the blue variety). When grinding watch if they're pulling out and if so work accordingly, grinding/sanding towards the end of the fiber.

I cabbed some blue tigers eye a while back. Stuff was soft as all hell. Was getting flat spots on 3000. No clue if that’s typical of the material

Some folks are terrified by the fact Tiger's Eye is silicified asbestos. They mask up. If that's a concern, do it. Some material does have loose fibers as realrockhound mentions. I avoid that type, and it's pretty easy to identify. Meanwhile, I've cut dozens upon dozens of TE cabs easily and with no problems at all.

I must be unlucky because probably half of the ones I've cut tended to pull fibers. I have two preformed (one marra mamba) and I hope that they are problem free.

Usae a 10-X loupe to inspect the rough. You can usually tell if it's "problem" material. Marrra Mamba's a little different than South African TE. It does tend to have looser fibers in some instances I've found.

Thank you, everyone, for weighing in.
I'm guessing strong magnification, so I know what I'm working with will help, that and paying attention.
At the moment I'm not jumping to try the blue Tiger Eye I have, I think I'll start with the regular to get my feet wet.
With any luck, I'll be able to show some good results.
Thanks again for the input.

No problems-life is good, today I did mask up for pre-forming & grinding, as I figured that was the most exposure time.
But otherwise nothing much different that good magnification didn't keep me zeroed in on.
I LOVE the way it glows in the morning sunlight.
I gotta do me some more.
Thanks, Randy, RWA3006 for the slabs Patty
