Here is some material I discovered out in an area not even known for rockhounding or mineral deposits. My dad and I had found the piece pictured and kept scouring the area until we started dialing in where it was coming from. I need to cut some cabs from it. I have a ton of stuff stashed down at my parents place and stumbled across it so decided to share a pic of the cut piece I had laying around. Think its worth going out and getting more? Its a jasper of some sort.

Gorgeous material! It reminds me of solar flares. There's your name for it...Solar Flare Jasper! *I'd say you could call it "Flamer" Jasper...but I don't think you can do that nowadays!

Hot Dog! While Pat usually has much to say about "ketchup and mustard" rocks, and I agree, I relish this one.

I'd love to cut some cabs from that material. I think it's terrific. Reminds me a bit of Chinese Pietersite with the whirly reds and yellows.

Is it worth getting more? Are you kidding? Unless it doesn't polish, you should be planning the trip now.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I like it, mostly just for the pattern and how vibrant the colors are. However, wanted to get the groups thoughts on this. Looks like I’ll be working my way back out there once the weather clears up. Where I had found it is in a spot where no one really goes. That’s not to say others haven’t been out there, but I didn’t see any signs of people remotely close to the area I located it. The amount of arrowheads etc I found back up in there as well makes me think it’s not getting a lot of traffic either. I’ll shoot to cut a cab this weekend and post pics of how it turns out.

Rockoonz. Most ketchup and mustard rocks are….meh. Some ketchup and mustard rocks are delicious and we relish them, like this one.

I generally turns a blind eye to them. This has been the first type I’ve found where I was actually like damn.. the vibrancy in color and the pattern stands out to me. I’ll work on slabbing more up tonight, then cut a cab hopefully Saturday

That's some nice looking stuff, definitely worth digging and cutting. I'll be looking forward to seeing some of it cabbed up.

It's an old thread, but with my solar imaging, solar flare jasper would be most appropriate

It's an old thread, but with my solar imaging, solar flare jasper would be most appropriate what I should do is cut a cab that looks like a solar flare. However that would be done 😂
