Hello, I started rock tumbling in the 60's when i got a pretty cheesey tumbler kit for my birthday. I was able to get a couple of satisfactory batches of small stones collected along the north Calif coast and creeks. It sat for decades in a closet and I recently tried to revive it but all of the plastics had powderized rendering it useless. That prompted a trip to Harbor F for a single barrel unit that failed within a week. The double barrel set looked a little better but it too failed inside of two weeks. After reading up on and watching youtube videos I decided to try a vibratory unit from the same source but the unit that was in my price range turned out to NOT be liquid tight and that one got returned as well.
My early batches included some agates that I really like and I want to hound an polish more of those. More recently I was working on a highway project south of Tracy CA and I found what I think are pretty cool reddish rocks with white veins. They are various sizes up to pieces that I would have trouble carrying any distance. I broke out my tile saw and slabbed some of these and they are now in the limbo batches from the failed HF tumblers. From skimming through this forum I discovered The Rock Shed and am currently on email notification for arrival of a two tub six pound unit that got good reviews. I'm really looking forward to some successful tumbling and with the help I've already found here I think I'm on the right path.

Hello from Australia Looking forward to hearing updates from you once your new tumbler arrives. The red and white rocks sound interesting.

Welcome, I am new here as well. If the dual 6lb tumbler you are waiting on is Lortone (don't know what else you could be describing) you most likely will never see it. I have recently purchased a handful of rotary tumblers and can give you the knowledge I have gathered, if needed.
