ThomasT I wish William Holland was on the opposite side of the country. Completely agree about picking these peoples brains before it’s too late. If you are a member of a NW club you can see if there are any openings at the NW Rockhound Retreat. It takes place during the week following Labor Day at Omsi's Camp Hancock in Oregon. northwestfederation.org/NwRockHoundRetreat.asp

Rockoonz 👍👍I did look into that a number of years back! I will take a look again. Might be doable in the near-ish future.🤞🤞

rockbrain That’s actually pretty hilarious. I wonder if next time she’ll adjust her teaching a bit. Taking a look at the hands in the class and suggesting (12) 1 1/4” pieces maybe?? Or give me any couple of inches to make a few more scrolls! ![](https://res.cloudinary.com/gkyhn/image/upload/v1716432668/rs0g53fwt82wdhcnbuqe.jpg)

Nope, too big for her thumb. I might make another. It's good solder practice and doesn't take very long. I like the looks of some of the scroll arrangements. I only need a couple of more tools that aren't too expensive to be able to make these at home.

I don't recall ever seeing a ring like that before! Really cool! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Sounds almost like forge welding.

It’s been years since I’ve done it but this ring reminded me of it and kind of made me want to practice it again.

Went to my first continuing education jewelry class last night. A little disappointed. It seems the class is dedicated to forming things in wax, doing a mold and making the thing out of silver or whatever metal. There were a lot of people making bails last night, which seemed a lot of work, considering you can buy them cheap. On a more positive note, classroom is really well equipped with lots of hand tools, a vacuum machine to pour, polishing wheels, two Fordham rotary units and various other things. No way to make cabs and not a lot of guidance on wiring. I'll go back next week and wee.
