I just did a quick rebuild of the UV 10 which I've done before. I'm using a non-OEM motor (again) which I've done before. Same specs as OEM. I cannot get a response from Al T's email this time so no OEM motor for me.
Motor mounts: The replacements often break. This is a signal to me that may be doing something wrong. But what.
*That said, can I run without him? *Do you think that I will ruin the platform?
Experiment is probably in order where I monitor the platform. Would you agree?
Please weigh in! your help is always appreciated.

Update: 1- the tumbler cyclonic action is faster and vigorous. 2- the motor doesn't "wiggle" much. 3- stages will be shorter due to action 4- it's louder, I am still running w a bubble mailer inside lid 5- will monitor rock chipping That is all. Tx for reading.

UPDATE: the seriously FAST action in the UV-10 (w/out motor mounts) accelerates polish times. Close to 1/2 time. I have ceramics and extra polish onboard to cushion the turbulent action. The action of the Thumler UV-10 (w/out motor mounts) punctuates the slowness of the Raytech. SPEED ISN'T EVERYTHING and certainly not at the cost of chipped rocks from rough action.
UPNEXT: test wit UV bowl on the TV base to observe if the Raytech's motor or bowl is the contributing factor to the Raytech underwhelming performance.

Still seriously fast action. Louder than usual, louder than the raytech (i added one since the experiment and now have 2 TV and 1 UV. I would have expected some collision bruises and chips but I'm not seeing any.
What have I done differently with this new motor: Extra Polish media to quiet things down Extra ceramic to prevent chipping Thanks for reading the updates.

I've been reading this with interest but can't contribute much, sorry. I actually just purchased a UV bowl for my Raytech but it will probably be months before I have enough stones to determine if it was a good decision. 🙂

We have 2 of the UV10 IND units, one of them needs the center post for the tub repaired. Love to see videos and pics of what you did, plan to start using them again this Fall.

I think the UV just bit the dust. Sounded like bearing seized or something "bad". I won't be replacing the motor w a non OEM one... I may buy a raytech base For 89.00 and say goodbye

Right miket? It's had 3 motors... I'm retiring it or I may sell it without a motor!

Uodate: Purchased a $79.00 115V raytech base that's on the way. Plan to and started running my Thumler bowl on the raytech base. Mods needed to run UV bowl on TV base: drill bigger hole in UV bowl to match the TV base. Various washer and nut adjustments due to differing sizes. Bubble wrap and mailers to suppress noise.

When the threads on the central rod on my raytech vibe 5 shoewd significant wear (due to operator error) I used some improvised spacers to get to good threads and secure the top/bowl. I've also repaired the lid on a raytech. Necessity is the mother of invention.
