So I'm actually going to call this contest early, it's already a wrap, there really is no contest anymore. Congrats to oregon , who to my complete amazement, with a guess of 12777grams, absolutely nailed it within 1 freakin gram! I can't even imagine the odds of that happening, but here we are. You either should have played the lotto, or you were the guy who sold me the rocks, or I left a breadcrumb somewhere that I'm unaware of, or you are Neo. My jaw hit the floor with that guess, well done sir. So instead of having others waste their energy on false hope, I'm just calling it here. I'll probably run another like this in the future.
PM me with your details and I'll get these out to you, I'll include others as you went HOF in your first at bat.
My receipt and the "math" for reference

Well, that's a pleasant surprise this morning! Been out wandering around the Pueblo/Trout creek mtn area for a spell, not really with rocks in mind.
So, just because Math isn't hard, it doesn't lie and works in a beautiful way... One could have done some image analysis to look for the size distribution of the rocks, or even some not too fancy statistics of a distribution with the min/max/~median/number to come close.
I entered because you gave a ton of information, and forming a guess was an interesting enough exercise. My very quick thought process went something like: If your 'most common' number just happened to be the median, 209x the median is about 11000 grams, but the picture gave me an feeling the average rock looked heavier than 51.5gms, so I settled on 12-13000gms, but the 777 was for LUCK!
Always hard to discount karma, seeing that I also entered because and older friend who's had a tough go of it had just said tumbling bahia's were his favorite to tumble and he was wishing he could visit Richardson's to pick up some more. I Was thinking of stopping by there for him this past week if my wandering lead me in that direction but I didn't head that way, so I'll plan on sharing with him.
Cheers!
and kudos for using gms, not lbs oz!

and kudos for using gms, not lbs oz! It's funny mention the math part of it, that's probably how I would have gone about it if I had a guess. I was wondering if anyone was going to use the hint, I didn't want to give too much away. I was absolutely floored at your guess though, more than impressed.
Stoked that you can share some of these with your buddy.
Congrats again!

I had to commit to the contest to make myself let them go.
Looks like they found a good home.
Maybe someday you can show a couple off, whatever you do.

Definitely a very nice box! I spot some pieces at the inner circle of 10 o'clock that don't look like Bahia at all. They look like Nguni Jasper that I have been tumbling.

Fun experimenting with a few of these in the last batch, some nice eyes, layers... think I might cut a few in half to tumble for the next go round. Thx. Son Of Beach

Thanks for showing them off
