Thanks! We were at it again yesterday and she managed to get seven or eight hearts done altogether. I have them in the lot-o now. I can’t believe how patient she is! Her practice rock was a nice size chunk of candy rhyolite and it took her close to 10 minutes to cut. She did not waiver or hesitate the whole time. Those hearts take quite a while to cut out also, and I taught her how to use the side of the sintered blade to finish shaping them.

We will be doing more sawing after school today. We’re also going to start drilling holes in them and other small slabs we’re polishing also. Because of her interest (It’s been building up seriously this year) in this, I have decided that as I set up the shop in the garage…it won’t just be my shop, it’ll be our shop. I also now know who will take everything over when I’m done. That’s a really good feeling

Thanks! Yes, safety is so important. We talked long about all the dangers from injury to silicosis. She looks super cute lol. I had her in my long shop apron for a bit, but she doesn’t like it. I need to get a picture of her in it though because it was hilarious. I’m just so happy that there is yet another thing my stepdaughter enjoys doing with me. She is more like my kid than my other (grown) kids lol. I absolutely love her.
