Now this is the color I want to see in a Poppy Jasper! From our garden this morning. Too bad these things don't bloom all summer.

The first image is leopardskin jasper which is actually a rhyolite. Very pretty. But, the one below it (hornitos poppy jasper) really wets my whistle. Wow!

I saw it last night and meant to post the ID, but then I got sidtracked. (So unlike me to get sidetracked...oooh look...a squirrel! LOL)

The orange in the last one is getting close. Well I have to admit that one is pretty orangey.

This is more red than orange but I've seen a couple of pieces of this Arizona material posted before and have been impressed with the color saturation.

When I first started buying Morgan Hill, the darker material was much more expensive than the lighter. It was new dig instead of old stock. I bought the lighter and found that I could sell cabs for about the same as the old stock. There are many different kinds of Morgan Hill and each has a distinctive appearance. Lions den is the only one that I can sell for a premium because it is more heavily silicated with clear areas. I bought the old stock from Martin Kramer on ebay. He currently sells on FB and I have bought Loma Prieta and Easy Street from him to make cabs. Loma Prieta Easy Street This is the most expensive Lions Den I have sold.

Poppy jasper is cool, but just wait until you see some poopy jasper. LMAO! I've got a box of fossils that look a lot like poops so I might have to change the label....jk
