My only encounter with cicadas was when we stopped in the middle of nowhere while driving across country. We took a side road to see a small local museum.

On the walk from the car to the front door, we heard beautiful music, and wondered the source. It was louder under a tree. We didn’t see anything unusual.

We asked the museum hostess about what we heard.

Cicadas!! She noted it was unusual that visitors paid any attention. Somewhere there must be a cicada day celebration.
