The reigning theory is that time an space began as one. There is a rough understanding of the progress of the development of the universe. Unknown and unexpected finds are to be expected whenever you are using a new instrument

So, by the reigning theory, the Universe has existed since the beginning of time and will exist until the end of time. Not to be confused with no beginning and no end...

So, by the reigning theory, the Universe has existed since the beginning of time and will exist until the end of time. Not to be confused with no beginning and no end... Time as physics concept began at the birth of the universe. Asking what happened before the big bang is akin to asking what's north of the north pole. Most times a theory survives by seeing how the observation and testing matches the theory. Most theories which are correct need adjustments which sharpen it. If evidence completely disrupt the very foundation of a theory, then the theory must be put to a new hypothesis. Evolution as a theory may see challenges to the playing out of the time-line, but the very idea has yet to me competed with
