Might just be the lighting, but it appears to have a golden tone like pyrite
Have you run any tests such a streak, hardness ad density?

Possibly so. I have no real way of actually knowing though. I know my grandpa collected all types of different minerals etc..

I have seen this before. It is some sort of slag. Do not know from what. Call around to places that buy or sell gold/silver or big scrap metal dealers and see if they have a hand held XRF gun. This will give you the elements in about 10 sec. They have never charged me. I think the say what is this idiot want to check a rock for.

Looks like man made plutonium. Did you pick that up next to an old reactor?

No clue where my grandpa got it from. There is a glass jar that has all these different types of metals in it. Knowing him and stuff he collected, im honestly kinda sketched out handling any of it. Im going to get a Geiger counter to run it over a few things. About a month ago I opened a plastic tote that had a piece of petrified wood that I’m pretty confident was covered with asbestos. When I opened the lid, that stuff started going everywhere. I quickly held by breath, put the lid on. Went inside and took my clothes off and hopped in the shower.

I was going to ask if anyone out west checks material with a Geiger counter.

I could very well just be some odd slag. I’ll try to get a better picture out in the sun, so you can see how shiney and metallic it is. Try to see if I can run some tests as well.

I was going to ask if anyone out west checks material with a Geiger counter. I do some of the stuff I dig as I have various specimens of uranium ore (carnotite) and some of the copper ore specimens I have from close to the uranium mine are also radioactive.
