The variety of Texas Wood never ceases to amaze me.
There should be quite a bit of the river wood newly exposed after all the rain in the water shed.

Very nice! On the first post, third photo down, what tells you that this is pertrified wood? I always get confused when I see something with yellow/red/brown jasper looking material.

I haven't been down to the river in well over a year but all this rain sure has me wanting to see what's been exposed! And I haven't forgot about ya either! My schedule has been overbooked with daughters allstar softball but if/when I may have chance to go I will let you know and see if can workout time we could go.

Usually the exterior looks more like wood than inside. I could always be wrong tho. That one in particular I don't recall why I assumed it was wood.

I didn't realize there was that much variety in there. Thanks for showing those side by side! The variety gets even better when have pieces big enough to cut with grain or across it. Unfortunately alot of my pieces don't get to choose orientation of cut.

Some cool cuts. I like the last one in the first group. It reminds me of van Gogh Starry night.

oldschoolrocker - Those are some amazing examples of Pet Wood from down there in Texas! Several years ago, I picked up a box of George West Petrified Wood from Mel...and those all look SO similar to what I got! Gorgeous!!

Tho can be difficult to cab at times due to fractures and soft spots running thru the material.
