Hi all. Seems like there's a run on Amythest these days. My sister-in-law has been bugging me to make her an amythest necklace for a long time so I decided to make this one for her birthday on the 17th. I sure wish I was more talented at hanging the stone, but this will have to do. It's only my 4th attempt at coming up with something that would go with this stone. Let me know what you think, and don't be shy, I can take it. Of course, don't be too honest, or my wife may come home and find me in the corner in my underwear rocking back and forth! Without flash with a flash Thanks for looking, Ed

Holy crap that is awsomely beautiful! That round bead is great - I rather like the bail on this one as it is - the shape of the stone is bang on too - no rocking necessary, more like jumping up & down!

Ed, That looks GReat! That is something totally different, and you hit it "right on" with this one. She's gonna be happy with that. Steve

That's awesome bud! Try the next one with a silver bell cap, it may or may not bring out the rest of the silver, gotta see to be sure, but that looks sweet!!

Good stuff! One of these days I will get serious about making some jewelery but until I have a saw & wheels I will have to be happy with tumbling natural forms.

Thanks everyone. I was hoping I didn't have to tear this one apart and try again. Randy, I tried a bell cap, but it was going to cover up too much of the stone and I really wanted that little tip of purple to be visible on top. But you're right, bell caps are a quick and attractive way to turn a pendant into a necklace.
Thanks again, Ed

Kim, if you saw the first 3 attempts at this, you'd know why I wasn't real confident. Pebbles, you realize my brother comes with the deal too. Thanks guys.

Whatdya mean more talented and hanging that stone? You did a great job. Your sis-in-law should love it. I like the shape too. It's nice to see that Amethyst is become more accepted here in the recent days. I hope it makes a full comeback! Besides, my wife likes it a lot.

Ok I'll be a jerk- I hate it! (No Really I love it- excellent combo- and I love the way the stone hangs- Very elegant- I will not show this too my wife however- she is already nagging about her Birthday necklace) Gosh Ed the wrap on that wire above the beads is cool too- man you really are a talented son of a gun!- BTW I almost have the courage worked up to try that Poppy Jasper- Maybe after a stiff drink (oh wait I don't drink- damn) ok well maybe I'll start again and then touch that stone to a wheel!

Ed,
The pendant & bead & bail are awesome! I would wear that with pride!
If I could suggest one thing...what may be throwing you off is the chain. While it's a good chain, it's not in balance with the pendant. Try it with anything else you might have hanging around. I've found that when I can't come up with the one that goes "cha-ching!", sometimes simple leather or colored leather can be just right.
