Yeah, for real obsidian this time. 🤣 Grabbed the first piece that I could find and here is the result. Still looking for tips as I think it could be shinier.
AND here's the one for ID if anyone could please tell me.... Thanks again!

Looks to me like some more time on the 1200...then back to the 3000 might be worth a try. There doesn't look like there's deep scratches...so I'm just wondering if a little more time on the 1200 will do it...
*I commented in your other thread about that second one...but to be even more specific, it reminds me of the San Jacinto River "Cobble" I got from jamesp awhile back...

Agree Jason. The mossy and plumy agates found at the lower section of the Rio Grande are a Heinz 57 mix washed down from a long and varied upstream source. Anyway, the whole mess of heavily rounded agates/woods/jaspers/palms is cased in volcanic ash based 'cement' called caliche to make a deep sedimentary deposit for many miles. Find the white caliche and you are in the agate business, a no brainer. Many gravel quarries along the massive deposit dig them and sell them for road gravel, larger cobbles sold as rip-raff. Find graveled roads or graveled landscape beds and start collecting. Oddly few go there to collect, the Hispanic population there seems to have no interest in fine rocks but they are glad to have you collect on their ranches. Kind and generous folks down there.
