I’ve searched and thought and searched and thought… so, a tile saw is faster than a rock saw, right? I have a basic craftsman 7” tile saw. Lately, I’ve been using a dewalt xp4 blade with pretty good results. I also have one of these on the way: Anyone have any other suggestions? Are more expensive blades, like hotdog, worth it? I mostly find I’m sawing chalcedonys, agates, jaspers…rocks around 7 mohs. Many thanks everyone!!

I bought and use this blade. I don't cut a lot, but works good on quartz and granite...https://www.amazon.com/Qep-6-7001cr-Continuous-Diamond-Tile/dp/B00FQ670BK/ref=pd_bxgy_d_sccl_2/132-6159596-6627450?pd_rd_w=Jc1Yz&content-id=amzn1.sym.7746dde5-5539-43d2-b75f-28935d70f100&pf_rd_p=7746dde5-5539-43d2-b75f-28935d70f100&pf_rd_r=CFR3GHWKJDCXNPBS83E7&pd_rd_wg=EXqAl&pd_rd_r=42a4617c-9ff5-47d3-854a-0b07e7c268e5&pd_rd_i=B00FQ670BK&psc=1

Its takes longer to cut but wastes less material.
But I have seen a frequently returned message about their brand. Whats up with that?

It works decent. Then I got the Dewalt and have been fairly impressed by it. I haven’t tried the black widow yet, but will next week probably.

It’s pretty decent but I feel like I have to peen it after every cutting session (then again I’m cutting for two hours at a time and most of my material is cryptocrystalline silica in nature - quartz, jasper, etc - so that’s a good mohs 7.5). Definitely gonna give the DeWalt XP4 a shot and see how it does, got a lot of rock to cut.

When cutting geodes this round, I felt it took more effort. To be fair there was more quartz and agate, but it was tough going. Of course I tend to finniky about safety and will always default to the safest thin blade

I used the DeWalt XP4 on mySkilsaw tile saw. It is a good blade. The kerf is kinda thick, though. In my earlier days using it, I wasted a lot of good rock. But, it was what I had.

wargrafix it appears to be a wet or dry blade, like the cheap ones I use with an angle grinder for concrete and stucco. Looks like the center is thicker too, so it won't cut very deep before hitting the step.

I am back annoying you all again. I need to consider a thin blade. Continuous.

Just be careful using segmented blades. They will definitely cut/injure you if you touch the blade while it is running. I only use continuous rim blades for cutting rocks. I have a Skil wet saw that I use. Here are a couple of different blades that I have bought and used. 7 inch blade - #17 inch blade - #2They're pretty good blades for the price. I have cut geodes, quartz, quartzite, agates, and a bunch of other rocks that I'm not sure what they are yet.
