Apart from setting myself on fire with my dopping lamp, I do manage to cut a few cabs now and then. I’ve cut a lot lately, in fact. I guess all that pent up energy from being away from the wheels for over 3 years has manifested in a burst of production. Besides, it’s just plain fun. Here ae a few (actually, very few) of my recent efforts. I don’t want to bore you with overkill. I’m playing around with new photography set-ups too and the ones shown here are experimental and subject to a lot of revision later. The current ones lack scale indicators and I’m thinking about that. Anyhow, here goes, and as always, thanks for looking. Pink Imperial Jasper, Mexico Royal Imperial Jasper,, Mexico Blue Mountain Jasper, Oregon Gary Geen Jsasper, Sodalite Blue Mustang Jasper, Oregon Willow Creek Jasper, Idaho Lapis Lace (Scheelite), Turkey Blue Lace , Namibia Deer Sky Jasper, Oregon Pink Imperial Jasper, Mexico

I'm experimenting with a lot of different shapes but this one has some real advantages in the use of odd-shaped material. Appreciate the comments. Imperial is one of my favorite things to cut and I'm looking forward to getting my saw running again because I have quite a bit of it to slab.

Those are all beauteous, Rick! My favorite is the Deer Sky, though. Love the pattern in that one and you captured it perfectly.

Those are great! And the red horn coral is great too! Thanks Chris. I dug that coral many years ago in Utah.

Just beautiful work! Love the fist one. You have it leaning against a "limb cast"? I have the same limb cast and wondering if I should cut and tumble it or cab it. Is it advisable or should a leave as is. I have four of them about 4-5" long each. Congratulations on the beautiful cabs. Looks like you start with top quality material.

I collected that limb cast at Texas Springs, NV many years ago when you could just rake material from the surface. Haven't been there in years but have heard it's now a pit with good material scarce. I consider it specimen material but many cut it. I was thinking of making cabs from some but decided the color was too weak to hold up in thin section: color intensifies the further light travels through it. A 6 or 7 mm. cab would display pretty insipid color IMO but others may differ. I haven't actually cut any.
