Looks like a good take on Al's design. I saw the original video when he was originally developing it with 3d printed jigs and it was only 6 inch like Al's machine, I see he has added the 8 inch and machined the jigs. Price is about 3x what Al's machine was when I bought it, but probably about what I would expect with inflation and John including the jigs that were extra from Al. I think the only 2 things he didn't address was the need for a variable speed motor and using a coupler to give the lap it's own bearings instead of using the motor bearings, but I imagine the added price of those would make it too expensive.
