Downsizing the lapidary equipment. This one is a fun piece that needs some love to get it in top form. I just never had the time to do it, and I already had other wheels set up. I am in Scio, Oregon and will give preference to a local buyer as it saves me going to the post office. It is a highland park unit that has room for 3 wheels wheels and 2 disks. Spins freely. I didn't bother to clean it up for the photoshoot. Asking $150 for this beast. Shipping not included.

Hey cobbledstones, I am possibly interested in this. I have a custom 8x3 sintered wheel. It is effectively 2x15" wheels fused together so the mounting area at bore is close to 2" What I've found is most 2 wheel arbor (polyarbor/lortone beaver) don't have enough arbor space to hold this thick of a wheel. It is also Heavy (approx 17lbs or more). What I'm hoping you can do for me is provide pictures of the unit with the top off showing the spacers configuration. I've read elsewhere that one of the spacers (toward center iirc) is fixed and has a nut that you hold a wrench against to take the end nuts off.. I'm curious as to whether or not that leaves enough space to fit this wide mounting wheel on? Also what are the overall dimensions of the unit? I know you said you'd rather not ship...I am in wisconsin though so pickup is out of the question. Id bet you could schedule ups or fedex to pick it up from your house. Anyways, if you can take the top off and post pics of the spacers that is step one. Thanks for your time, Josh

That would be most excellent. Finally a fellow rockhound vs random sellers who have no knowledge or interest in helping!

hey lapidary1234 here are some more photos of the guts of the unit. It looks like none of the spacers are fixed and there is a nut to tighten then at one end. Also looks like you would have to disassemble the entire mandrel to swap the wheels overall pic the space in the main bay is about 12"

Ok, that pretty much checks out with what I've read about these machines! The nut on the left side of the arbor doesn't move but it looks like there's plenty of space to hold a wider wheel.
It also looks to me like someone cut pvc or something to hold the wheels in position. Otherwise I'm not sure what would keep the wheels from sliding left or right.
I'll tell you, id happily pay you $150 for it if there's a way to get it shipped to me. I don't mind paying whatever shipping would cost and a little something extra for your time.
Just to verify one more time, this is an 8" unit?
Lmk, and well work out the details! Thanks for taking the time to provide pictures, much appreciated ")

Shoot, I just noticed the wheels that are on it appear to be 6" wheels. Its possible someone just put 6" wheels on it to save money. Is there a plate with the model # on it somewhere showing cb8? That would put my mind at ease. I already own the sintered 8" wheels so I need a machine that can hold them Thanks again!

The measurement I took in one of the middle pictures has 5" from the bottom of the tray to the center of the shaft so there would be 1" clearance to the base of the tray with 8s wheels. Yes there are currently 2 carbide style wheels on it one was 8 to start but is now closer to 7, and 1 is a 6, must be they were trying to save

cobbledstones I'm not trying to leave you hanging. Honestly I'm unsure of if this is the right machine for me... I need something that can hold 8" wheels with enough space to get under wheel geysers and preferably without having to make modifications to the hood. I also found a raytech gp8 listed about 4 hours away from me currently waiting on a reply from them. If someone else is interested in this don't hold it fir me at this point. If this other unit falls through I will look more closely if this will suit my needs. Thanks for everything so far! ~ Josh

Yea, im hoping to get it properly mounted long term. I managed to get it on an older rayrmtech 2 wheel unit that came from the factory with 2 expandable drums but it just barely fits and the unit only has a 1/3 hp motor plus all that weight on the bearing...
I've got a line on a raytech gsp8 thats in state (still 4 hour drive each way) at a good price that i feel i should go look at at least.
Who knows what will end up happening though. I recently got elected vp in the local gem and mineral society and am looking to spice things up by setting up a workshop so even if I end up buying a machine locally I may still be interested in getting something for the local community ")
We'll have to keep in touch!
