This one I'm guessing at jasper of fine variety. Really nice color, pattern almost flower like. Anyone want to take a stab at it?

Looks like Biggs Jasper to me.
ETA: Or Deschutes. I get them mixed up because they look similar.

hummingbirdstones - Me too! That's why I asked... I have a box I've been putting all the ones like this in, it's a mish mosh of biggs and deschuttes! pebblesky - I think so too! I also love the color, it yellowy-er in person. Looks like an opening yellow rose on top. Thanks!

I believe it's Deschutes...
I'm shaking my head when I see preforms being drawn on a slab like this.
Let me explain! LOL
For MOST people, this slab would be a keeper...as a specimen piece. However, I am picking up on the MASSIVE amount of material the previous owner had...and realizing this is one of the sacrificial pieces makes my jaw drop...knowing they had even BETTER slabs they weren't cutting up! LOL

jasoninsd - At this point everything I've posted was considered "lapidary materials." The good part of the collection is still at his house. I'm sorting through his "trash" before I get to see the "treasures." I have no idea what they might be.

realrockhound are they the same? like interchangeable names? (biggs/deschutes) Not really. I mean to be fair... Its all the same material. However location is key. Deschutes tends to have a different pattern than biggs. Some more easily distinguishable than others.

Deschutes. Looks like it might be opalized , as well. Though, it would be really hard to tell. The colors are more like deschutes than biggs to me.

My boss asked me what I was going to do on my day off (today). I told him I was tired of the Axe body spray my wife keeps buying me. I said I was going to see if I could find a fragrance and wear it all this week. I told him it was called "Leavemethefu Cologne"! He rolled on the floor...so...mission accomplished! LOL

LOL!!! jasoninsd I'm adopting you as a brother. You've been upgraded from buddy status. Here's another one... I work sales at a flooring store. Not real glamorous...but it pays pretty well...for limited physical work! LOL The boss, myself, and another coworker were standing there talking while waiting for the "rush" of customers to come in...when all of a sudden someone pulls up in a truck. It was my turn to take the next customer...and the people in the truck just sat there...no one getting out. We stood there and waited...had to been about five minutes. Well...I said to myself, "Why not!" I told my boss what I was going to do...and he didn't believe me. I figured I'll show him. So, I grabbed a little notebook, and walked out to the truck. The guy rolled his window down...and I flipped open the notebook and asked, "Can I take your order?" The guy and his wife looked dumbfounded for 1.5 seconds until I said, "I thought maybe you guys just wanted a carhop to come out and take your order to make it easy on yourselves!" They both laughed so hard, they almost choked on the McDonald's breakfast they were trying to finish! ...and yes...they did end up buying carpet! LOL
