Nobody will laugh at you! It's ok, it was my guess! I guess we wait for rockjunquie or hummingbirdstones to chime in later. Thanks again for your help so far today. You're the best!

...I believe #1 is a Mica "book"...
...I believe you are correct about the Honduran "Black Matrix" Opal
**Google "Blue Gem Silica"...then get your hopes up about that one you posted a couple hours ago!
The other one you posted with the "possible" Blue GS, looks like Parrot Wing Chrysocolla to me...

rockjunquie - That crabtree emerald NC - in a bucket with stuff like this: jasoninsd - I thought parrot wing too, but couldn't tell from the rough around it. No clue how they get it out of there LOL Gem blue silica, holy crapsticks-pricey! If it is that, I'm taking the rest of the day off.

Oh! On that mica - it's got super long pieces that literally look like broken mirrors. Super fragile stuff, like flakes and peels when you touch it. I don't know why he has a bucket of it, I can't see it being super popular due to the brittle-ness of it.

The kids go nuts over it the library staff hate it because that’s just what the kids do with it. But we still bring it in. What a mess it makes!! Hahaha

Ok, here's my guesses: !. Definitely mica in some other stuff. 2. Emerald in matrix (don't know from where) 3. Honduran Opal 4. Selenite and gypsum crystals 5. Chrysoprase Agree with rockjunquie on the botryoidal chrysoprase. Some really nice copper complex (aka chrysocolla) but vegasjames is the expert on that stuff here. Maybe he can tell you exactly what minerals are making those up.

Way, way back in the day that's what people used for their windows, before glass window panes were invented.

Way, way back in the day that's what people used for their windows, before glass window panes were invented. They used them for oven windows, too. I remember playing in the woods in upstate Maine when we ran across an old homestead- or what was left of it. Miraculously, the mica in the beat up stove was still intact. Don't know how THAT happened.
