I asked Tom (definitely more his expertise than mine)- he said it's likely manufacturing tolerances that make them different. He also tried to explain to me that what sometimes happens, is that the grease gun hose gets over pressured, so it won't release. He said they have some kind of grease guns that has a pressure release fitting on the hose.
I also read that 6 months seemed good, BUT it all depends on how much you use it. Guess I better grease mine-hope mine doesn't get stuck. I know- I'll get Tom to do it

I did just take my top off. Don't get excited, I mean the top of the cabber. I think Patty was right on the grease fittings. That's right where the zerks are.

My six month estimate was based on some bearing run times I think for either shaft size or motor size (can't remember) and based on a rough guess as to how much I would use it. And six months sounded good.

Maybe I should look at my manual again. I haven’t flipped through it since I bought my machine. Whenever something is supposed to be done a couple times a year I always say I’m going to add it to the smoke detector battery changes at daylight savings time. I know I have several things on that list… 🤔 Whether or not I actually do them when the time comes though…

The response from KN
Hi Gary,
The felt pieces that are on top are for distributing water onto the wheel and cutting down on mist. The orange caps are covering the zerk fittings for greasing the ball bearings.
Regards, Richard

Sorry, I don't think I can afford to upgrade, just on the chance those new felts actually do anything. With the negative that you lose being able to set something on top of the cabber.
I personally like QuailRiver's idea with the rubber- I'm thinking to try using felt & have it do the top of the wheels & in between. Having something in between the wheels alone should knock down some of the spray, especially on the end.
