Unknown #3 could be burro creek jasper? I don't have enough of these myself to get familar but judging from the threads here here and here.

The blue grey area in #1 had me lean towards Polychrome Jasper.

#2 could be Sheep Creek Dendritic/Plume Agate (from google search).

Thanks pebblesky! I agree 100% on the burro creek - Thanks for finding that! The sheep's creek, I also thought that, from the sample posted yesterday in this section of the forum. I'm going to check out the polychrome idea. Thanks again! Most helpful!

Does anyone know if chert is translucent? Not doubting the ID, but I thought it was an agate.
Ok, you can start the geology lesson please. I'm guessing that was another question proving that I shouldn't have slept through geology. In my defense, those vacation slides were kind of boring and it was dark....

Oh if #4 is translucent, it could possibly be bots. I have pieces not slabs with bands that exactly look like this.

Although, chalcedonies like chert can occur with other chalcedonies that can be clear or translucent such as jasp-agate.

rockbrain - I thought that one was OJ too, but needed to confirm due the the lack of definition in those orbs. Thanks so much! pebblesky - Thanks! I might just go with "banded agate" and call it a day on that one. vegasjames - Thank you! I barely passed geology, thankfully I now have you to lean on! rmf - OMG! You could write a book on those names! You're blowing my mind again with the amount of knowledge you have - just on aliases alone! Many thanks, you're always so knowledgable and I'm grateful to have your input.

rmf - This is a side note - since you're good with aliases. Do you have any idea if "Butterfly Wing Jasper" was also called "Angel Wing Jasper?"

rmf - This is a side note - since you're good with aliases. Do you have any idea if "Butterfly Wing Jasper" was also called "Angel Wing Jasper?" I had not heard of Angel Wing Jasper. From what google showed it is an angel wing made of jasper, many different kinds of jasper. I am not an expert I have just spent a lot of time looking for rough material and downloading images. When you find a rock with multiple names and it is the same stuff like the coquina it gets real frustrating. I try to write myself notes so I can check back later since the "mind is a terrible thing" especially as you get older.

rmf - same here on googling that material! I came across one yesterday called "Christmas Tree." Try googling that, you'll just see christmas trees! Next time I come across a piece of it, I'll post a photo of the material (angel wing jasper) and tag you. I was telling someone on this forum, I have an ongoing list of the names I've come across, it's over 200 names and growing! That's why your input on that coquina was so helpful to me... so thanks again!

Mine like those (Picket plume) are marked Cady Mountain plume! The christmas tree, I'll post a photo of when I come across it again. Looks NOTHING like that material! I'll dig it on in a little bit after a lot of coffee....
