Do you guys remember that? In the 80's when there were razorblades put into the Halloween candy? It was a huge scare in the Chicago area... Anyway, it's back! That fossilized razor blade Halloween candy you feared as a child. Shouldn't Trick or Treat on Rush Avenue or Lower Whacker Drive..... Ok, enough nonsense, Can someone identify this awesome pop art piece of rock? (prays silently....please no maggot agates, please no maggot agates, please no maggot agates...amitabha!)

I have no idea and the razorblade story is horrific, but I noticed you've mentioned not wanting rocks to be maggot agates before, so just wanna send some reassurance your way. Think not of maggot (fly baby) agates, but caddisfly larvae agates. Caddisflies are AMAZING! They have more in common with butterflies than flies. Many caddisfly larvae build cases out of sticks, leaves, sand, and small stones, and some creative (maybe cruel?) people have given them gems, gold, and other interesting things to build cases from because #art. www.thisiscolossal.com/2014/07/hubert-duprat-caddisflies/Great examples of cases here: www.mdfrc.org.au/bugguide/display.asp?class=17&subclass=&order=8&Couplet=0&Type=3They have cute little faces! I love them. So next time you find a suspicious insect-like rock, remember, not maggots, caddisflies. Lovely caddisflies.

I think PS has it right, something like a cross section of this kind of thing. Is that matrix hard though?

I have some cut pieces exactly like the ones in your picture (pink bodies), but I really don't remember where I put them. I recalled seeing some beautiful cabs made out of this pink material in RTH.

tribeunited I definitely remember the razor blades in Halloween candy scare. Crinoids is absolutely correct. Really nice piece, too!

What are you talking about? I still put razor blades in the candy. Along with knifes, hand grenades, Ar-15's, tanks, and even F-15 fighter jets. Parents better be on high alert this year.

I love that! Well, the colors aren’t my thing but the pattern is really awesome! I had no idea that crinoids cuts can look like that.

titaniumkid - OMG thank you for that. Your reassurance was most helpful, most assuredly. I grew up in the city, so bugs haven't been a big part of my life until the last few years. I didn't know what a caddisfy was at all. I followed the links you provided, now I too see how cute they are! I do like the butterflies a lot, even have a butterfly tattoo! I am no longer afraid of finding the maggot agates! (Fear was due to the one time I licked a rock but I swear I didn't inhale) Oh and titaniumkid, you have to be one of the kindest people ever and you have the cutest face like bjork circa 1990! Son Of Beach - Yes, very hard Matrix. Thank you for the image pebblesky - Thank you for the Speed ID. I kept thinking it looked like a fossil of some kind! hummingbirdstones - I knew you would! I was hoping you would know what I was talking about! realrockhound - I laughed so hard I almost pooped out my peehole. I'm heading your way during the zombie apocalypse! I love when you're funny!!! gemfeller - Thanks to you too! I'm always happy when you join in! cabby - It's cool right? I like how the razorblades look shiny like they are fresh! Everyone! I love you guys! Have a great day!
