The Blue Ice Polka Dot Agate is amazing; thanks for sharing some photos. Glad I was able to snag some in the past. I always wondered what happened to West Coast Gems on eBay; I think that was the West Coast Mining eBay account. If I am not mistaken, West Coast Mining operates this mine (or used to). Not west coast mining any more, Dale Hewitt sold everything to John Cooke, Family Stones is his business name. Matt the FranTom guy sphereguy is also a major player with the company. Don't know how I missed this thread, or why it popped to the top of my old posts link realrockhoundIf you ever want to do a NW RTHlings field trip let me know, John has a lot of locations that he may be able to open up to us. Damn right you know I want to

I haven't been to that PD mine since Dale had it. We hounded the agate pit, got enough to last me a life time. Also hounded the Indian cave below for the treated agate.. One thing I do stress about, is take plenty of water with you when you hound that area.. Looks like you scored some beauties too, NICE!

Honestly, I don't know. But just like geodes I am still feeling out what I like. But from the different videos and pictures I have seen, the material offers a wide variety of interesting inclusions.

I've been thinking of making the trip (11 hours away), but I am worried that I won't be able to find any of the good stuff (transparent w/floaters, 'blue-ice'). I assume they mine it out when they find it.

I assume they mine it out when they find it. basically they mine it out when they hit pockets. Then bring it up for people to purchase. So you either get lucky or you don’t.

Didn’t go down in the polkadot mine. But I did manage to get some geodes with angelwing you might find rather impressive. Will post pics when home.

wargrafix this one’s for you. Here's the scoop. Another pic of the canyon rim thunderegg area My buddy Tom clearing some area to work Working one out. Digging aint hard, but not particularly easy either. Need to go slow and steady to get the good ones. Here's a nice one I dug out. This is what I look for when digging these eggs. I've essentially figured out what eggs will produce this and which ones wont. So have to be extra careful when you find these ones. Home and cleaned up. There are a couple guys out there that are super cool. I gave them some chinese jasper, a slab of blue biggs and a chunk of blue biggs to slab up. So they gave me this big angel wing nodule in exchange.

That angel wing is so cool. I know right? So delicate. I think I’ve successfully figured out what eggs produce the angel wings and which ones don’t. Been fairly successful using my method

Off topic: I hope you all are waking up early for the comet
Edit: if the mods confused...the pictures of a comet surface and either of the thundereggs look similar. I declare its a comet thunderegg
