I attend most of the auctions and don't buy every time. I buy when it is something I need and the price is good. Some of their asking prices are in nose bleed territory. Biggs and Blue Mountain are examples. I typically attend the auctions while doing other things on the internet and just listen. Yesterday there was a very gemmy piece of Imperial jasper. I don't remember the exact price around $150 or whether someone bought it. I recognized the slab because I got one off the same piece of rough. I checked my emails to see what I paid. It was a freebie from the wheel spin. I've won stuff multiple times since I attend so much. Some has been nice and some has been junk. The slab I got should never have been a giveaway. I made this cab and some other preforms from the slab.

I lurk there sometimes, and I’ve bought stuff too. When they first introduce new rough, the pieces are sussally sold before you can even see them on camera. So I typically wait a few weeks, and by then the “gotta have it” has stopped and you can often get the rough for a lower price. Sometimes the prices they want are absurd. Love them or hate them, they sure do come up with rock that you can’t seem to find anywhere else.

I like them, just remember they're not a charity. They're trying to make a buck too.
