Shiny concrete. I've no idea what it is and can't remember what it looked like before tumbling. Possibly quartzite? It doesn't come across here, but it really does look like tumbled concrete and for something so grainy it got a pretty decent shine.

I had no idea that quartzite is ever used for lapidary! My local quartzite is one of the few rocks that actually got named (purely because it’s part of a formation that has desirable rocks). Now I’m curious to try polishing some of my local rocks…
Definitely like those displays, too!

They're all from Australian eucalypts. Also a huge thank you to you and everyone else who offered advice for polishing that first rock. I'm happy with how it turned out and the things I've learnt I'm now applying to other rocks that didn't turn out so good.

Some will look great and some never will polish. I think sometimes, some of the small grains come out or fracture and it just doesn't look good.
