I was digging through the sacred hoard and found a stash of snowflake obsidian rough that is an ideal size for tumbling. Probably enough to make a dozen SFRB's and I'll offer it to the brave souls who want to tumble it for $18/SFRB and I'll pay shipping. I think a box is between one and two pounds.
There will be some mahogany obsidian mixed in it too. I've never had much problem bruising obsidian during the tumbling process if I keep the slurry thickness so it cushions and also fill the tumbler enough so the individual pieces aren't pounding each other.
If you would like to give it a try put your name on the list within this thread and I'll make up the boxes this weekend and ship Monday.
Photos below are a good representation of the material and a SFRB photo is shown so you know how much comes in a box. Thanks, Randy

Randy I'll take a box. Maybe I should just drive out there and fill my pickup with your little treasures. It might save the postal employees a backache!

I've got a love/hate relationship with Obsidian. I love using it to learn how to cab but my hands hate being lacerated, I guess I need thicker gloves.

Randy, that seems like a heckuva deal for tumblers! Gotta bump this to the top!! Yeah, I'm hoping the price is right but I thought it would get a few more customers. I guess obsidian is perceived to be too difficult? Or maybe a SFRB doesn't hold enough for the price? Don't know, but if someone wants a MFRB I could do that too for $50 shipped.

Your price is beyond good! I figure people are paying $4 a pound for a SFRB...and probably around $3 a pound for a MFRB. That's killer!!
